The city of Cádiz is seeing how other administrations update their accounts and, through them, the management of their services and responsibilities while in The City Council is still waiting to complete the already eternal drafting of the municipal budget.

The last administration to surpass Cádiz in the economic calendar has been San Fernando, which this Tuesday approved the budget for 2024 in its initial phase. A document that, it is worth remembering, will now have to exceed the mandatory deadline for the formulation of possible allegations and all the subsequent processing to analyze and take a position on those allegations until approving the final document.

San Fernando, then, It joins Chiclana and other cities around the capital that already have budgets approved or at least presented to update the management in this year 2024. An exercise that is also considered of special relevance in cities like Cádiz, where the local government changed its political direction and ideas as a result of the elections that are going to be a year old.

In fact, in the city the PSOE has insistently referred to the fact that Bruno García’s team is governing with accounts that date back to 2022 (since no budget was approved last year) and that they went ahead. with the rejection of the popular. A scenario that invites us to think about greater speed to approve the new budget than the PP has been taking.

Other popular administrations

Nor does the economic management of the capital’s City Council fare very well when compared to other administrations that are currently also governed by the Popular Party. A clear and direct example is that of the Provincial Council and that of the Junta de Andalucía.

Both administrations processed the new budgets in the last quarter of last year, so that They were definitively approved in the month of December 2023 to come into force before January 1. In this way, in addition, the two administrations comply with the legislation, which requires the approval of the new budget before the beginning of the fiscal year that must govern.

The latter will be completely unfulfilled in Cádiz, which in light of the current date (already in the month of May) and the processing that a budget subsequently requires (public exhibition of 15 business days and subsequent study and positioning of each allegation that could be presented before submitting the final document to the Plenary) will not be there before the end of the first half of the year.
