Going from Murcia to Andalusia, Granada, Seville, for example, can only be done by bus. A bus that stops at any location where a passenger has purchased a ticket. So, that trip of yours can turn into an entire odyssey that can last, perfectly, until twelve hours and twenty-five minutesat worst, and at best, it will take seven and a half hours, if what you intend is to travel to Seville. Twelve hours of rattling that seem endless (which means leaving pollution the long way), because another possibility would be go to Madrid by AVE and then travel, by AVE also, to Seville. A nonsense of hours and money that everyone cannot afford.

And I had the courage to make one of these trips last weekend to the capital of Seville. And, usually, reflections flock to your mind when, unfortunately in this case, you are one of the protagonists. I was telling a friend about this adventure and she left me a headline: «Murcia is also Spain». And yes, Murcia is Spain, and it is inevitable to think how strange it is that, in the 21st century, one part of Spain does not have a rail with the other part.

No, Murcia has no connection with Andalusia by trainand no one seems to care about what this would mean promotion of regional tourismof strength of rail transport (which would avoid much of the production of pollution that road transport causes), while at the same time it would boost tourism between this land and Andalusia. Because it is difficult to promote the exchange of travelers between regions if the prospect is to travel by bus for long hours.

There are many associations that make their voices heard in demand of a rail transport with Andalusia, but there doesn’t seem to be a coordinated way to do it. So the strength that only union provides is lost.

An informative study was commissioned some time ago to see the possibility of recover the railway section between Guadix and Lorca. An informative study that was put out to tender in 2021 and that continues waiting, I don’t know what, to be done. Apparently, the documentation is in the part corresponding to the previous technical, environmental and economic study, and there we remain, without moving forward. But what amazes us is that there is no strong union between the different groupswho have been defending the putting into operation of that train, and the businessmenboth from Granada and Murcia, who should press for the recovery of this railway line so necessary for the development of people

A force that seemed to emerge in 2021, because that year the European Year of Railways. And it served for social, union, environmental and feminist organizations, among many others, to launch different activities aimed at «highlight the need for a defense of rail transport as the ideal way to structure the territories. And as the best transportation too, to take care of this planet that is getting out of hand.

It is necessary fight against railway isolation that is given, and the best way is recover the connection that existed between Andalusia and Murcia, along the old train tracks that used to circulate years ago. And yes, the work of social groups It is very important to keep alive the flame of that railway that does not arrive, but we wonder if the The governments of Andalusia and Murcia could not do more than they do to make this a reality. I think so, but, apparently, this is an issue that only interests four ‘crazies’ from Guadix, Baza, Almendricos and Lorca, because their mayors don’t seem very concerned about the issue either.
