The BNG criticizes the “lack of planning” of the Xunta and urges solutions to expand the ESO places at the IES Otero Pedrayo

The BNG, through its parliamentary group in the Pazo do Hórreo, has asked the Xunta de Galicia for solutions to the lack of places at the IES Otero Pedrayo to accommodate the entire demand generated by the sixth-year Primary students of its three attached centers, the CEIP Irmáns Villar, Amadeo Barroso and La Inmaculada, located in the area of San Francisco, Hospital and Posío. Of the 97 registrations requested, 13 have been left out, which is why the Anpa del Irmáns Villar has started protests, since eleven of its students have been left without a place. The nationalist group demands that “the creation of one more classroom” be valued to alleviate this situation.

Representative Noa Presas recalls that the association of mothers and fathers of Irmás Villar students has publicly denounced that, despite having repeatedly warned the territorial head of Education of Ourense, more than a dozen students who would have to start ESO at the IES Otero Pedrayo, “they do not initially have a place due to the insufficient number offered at the reference center.”

At the BNG they are clear that “this situation is due to the lack of planning by the Xunta de Galicia, which did not take into account the forecast based on the demographic and occupancy data of the centers attached to the secondary school.” Furthermore, Presas points out, the most affected CEIP, Irmáns Villar, “is located very close to the IES, so logically the affected schoolchildren live in the immediate surroundings of the center.”

From the nationalist formation, they maintain that the , including the expansion of the educational offer in the IES itself and the consequent reduction of the ratio, which would also have a positive effect on the community as a whole. Presas points out that the Galician Government has the duty to guarantee sufficient supply without forcing abusive displacements simply to save on hiring more teachers.

For its part, the Anpa del Irmáns Villar will continue with the mobilizations. The next one, a rally in front of the territorial headquarters, tomorrow, Thursday, at 10:00 am.
