Cartagena’s agony will have a happy ending if they beat Efesé B

Cartagena Mar Menor depends on itself to maintain the category. The team has to win this Sunday (World Cup 82, 12:00 p.m.) against the already relegated Cartagena B on the last day to continue in the Second RFEF and also avoid the dispute of the ‘ playout’ for relegation to a round-trip tie.

The team led by Diego Piquero has 40 points and will serve them until defeat if Cádiz B and Manchego, with 39 and 38 points respectively, do not add three in their visits to La Unión and Yecla. There is a lot at stake at the top and bottom of the standings and the entire day will be unified. A victory in the Cartagena derby would mean a happy ending to Racing Cartagena’s agony this season. The club’s move from El Pitín to Gómez Meseguer started badly very soon: the expected social support was not found, the Japanese owners disappeared and problems arose.

The players accumulated months of non-payments (now they only have a payroll in arrears), the club ceased to have life on social networks and until a few weeks ago the dismissal of former coach Javier Motos was not resolved so that Diego Piquero would appear as coach for legal purposes. In between, the RFEF sanctioned Racing Cartagena with fines of 30,000 euros and the squad got into a delicate sporting situation from which it could emerge on Sunday if it wins.

If there is salvation, the idea is that the club is sold, maintains its headquarters in the city, president Daniel Núñez steps aside and the Racing name and everything related to Morris Pagniello disappears.
