The Provincial Council of Valladolid has reinforced its commitment to the Food Bank Foundation through a 20% increase in its financial collaboration, thus reaching 90,000 euros. This decision comes at a crucial time, when the social crisis worsens and the needs of vulnerable families become more pressing.

The president of the Provincial Council, Conrado Íscar, together with Jesús Mediavilla, president of the Valladolid Food Bank Foundation, have renewed this agreement that dates back to 2014. Both parties recognize the importance of this alliance to alleviate the difficult situation that many people face. and families in the province.

Íscar has emphasized the urgency of increasing resources allocated to those most in need, citing data from the AROPE Indicator that shows a constant increase in the percentage of the population living in poverty. This increase in the financial endowment of reflects the commitment of the provincial institution to actively support those who need it most.

For its part, Mediavilla has thanked the Provincial Council for its commitment, especially in a context where other organizations have not provided the same help. Agreement

The main objective of the agreement is to collaborate in the development of the food acquisition and distribution program. Thus, the 90,000 euros will be used to cover current expenses, mainly for the acquisition of food that will be distributed by the 36 entities in the province of Valladolid that in 2023 served 2,043 beneficiaries in the province. In any case, 15,000 euros will go towards the acquisition of food products from local producers.

Also included will be those expenses incurred for complementary activities that raise awareness among the population of the need to donate food, through the organization of solidarity events such as concerts, popular marches, and other similar activities, which are carried out to obtain greater financing or a greater volume of donations. food to distribute among the most vulnerable people.
