Carles Duran He gave an interview to Villasar Radio in which he spoke for the first time after leaving Joventut Badalona. The Catalan coach has reviewed his last days as green and black coach and his time as coach of Penya.

These were his words:

«In our world things have to be almost perfect and with the highest demands. The past is quickly forgotten. The club was simply not happy with my work, they thought that in the short term we had not reached the objectives that had been set and they were coming off many consecutive defeats. Things that happen in professional sports unfortunately.

I wish it had been another way. In the end it is a process and you see how you are not winning or that things are not working out and logically it is the coach who is always in doubt. After the last defeat at home against UCAM Murcia, the club contacted me the next day and told me that they did not see it.

I took the equipment and did something that everyone said was impossible to do. It is not something that I did alone because it was achieved with the help of the players and many people but everyone thought it was impossible. It’s what I’m most happy about. I think it was necessary to lead and set guidelines so that certain things could be done. Obviously there were very good players like Nico Laprovittola, among others. I was not the only one, but I do believe that I led a group that for different reasons was very low and we managed to achieve something that many people in the house thought was impossible.

I think we created a legacy. When I arrived at La Penya I believe that certain values and ideas had been lost for different reasons and it is something that has been done again. A lot of people from home, a lot of people who have been able to recover who had gone out and played basketball that I think the stands liked and who have been very competitive, reaching the semifinals of the Endesa League in the last two years. “I think it hasn’t been reached for 15 years and I think we reached our maximum.”
