CM, EU Ambassador collaborate on flood relief projects

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and European Ambassador Dr. RiinaKionka agreed to explore two vital projects aimed at assisting flood-affected communities. The first project focuses on reconstructing school buildings damaged by the flood, while the second aims to provide solar panels to off-grid populations.

The provision of solar panels will occur in two phases, prioritizing those currently off-grid and expanding to others in need subsequently. The meeting, attended by . Christian Raitz from the EU, P&D Najam Shah, and Secretary to CM RaheemShaikh, highlighted the urgency of addressing the aftermath of the devastating floods in 2022. Chief Minister Shah emphasized the need for support from donor agencies to rebuild the 20,000 school buildings damaged in the disaster.

The Ambassador pledged to raise this issue with European authorities to facilitate assistance. Additionally, discussions focused on fulfilling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s manifesto promise to provide solar panels to those in remote areas. Ambassador Dr. Riina Kionka expressed solidarity with the initiative, ensuring support for its implementation.
